Master Peter Lawson

Peter Lawson, B.B.A., is a Jamaican American martial arts expert with over 43 years of experience across multiple disciplines, including Seido Karate, Sanucus Ryu Jujitsu, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He holds seven black belts and has trained under renowned instructors such as Soke Cary Nemeroff and Sensei Luis Morales, mastering Tuidi Jitsu, Kyoshu Jitsu, Iaido/Kenjitsu, and gun defense. He has also been a member of the U.S.P.S.A. Ollinville’s Practical Shooting Team. Lawson's martial arts journey began at age 12 in Jamaica, where he studied under Sensei Errol Lyn and became the 2nd Belt Karate Champion of Jamaica by 1982. After moving to New York, he earned his first black belt in Seido Karate in 1987 under Kaicho Tadashi Nakamura and later achieved a 6th dan in Sanucus Ryu Jujitsu under the late Dr. Moses Powell.

In 1997, Lawson began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with Master Renzo Gracie, earning multiple medals in Pan American and international competitions. Guided by the philosophy "to whom much is given, much is required," he now runs his own dojo in Brooklyn, New York. As a mentor, Lawson emphasizes the importance of self-discipline and control, teaching students to balance body and mind while preparing them to face real-world challenges and serve as positive role models for others.

I joined 6 months ago and would love to stay but I moved to Queens....I tried kickboxing and loved that. There is a nice community here and a variety of coaches who offer different ways of teaching and support....

The instructors here are very experienced and the classes are super fun and high energy! I tried the kickboxing class, it's a great workout with a combination of strength, rounds on the bag, and partner work.

Martial Arts Programs for Children

Karate for Ages 4-7: Our karate classes for young children focus on developing discipline, confidence, and motor skills in a fun and supportive environment.
Brazilian Jiujitsu and Kickboxing for Ages 8-13: Older kids can develop strength, coordination, and self-defense skills through a combination of Brazilian Jiujitsu and kickboxing classes, designed to challenge and engage them.
